Quiet space

Barbara – Quiet space.
As I’ve got used to our new flat so I’ve been getting help from our gardener. The plan is I do the pots on the paved-area and he does the rest. Many of our friends have gardens so conversations and plant swaps - plus Monty Don on TV, RHS Chelsea on TV, catalogues such as Hayloft – keep plans flowing. High points have been having a large apple tree pollarded and our (beyond-repair) shed taken down. My favourites are clematis, our olive tree, the buddleia we inherited. We get plenty of action with birds, butterflies, squirrels and the occasional cat or fox.

We hope soon to have a ramp so that Tony can get himself into the garden in his wheelchair rather than relying on a carer. At our neighbouring Methodist Church there has been a monthly midweek service we’ve belonged to for many years. It’s called ‘Quiet Space.’ It is a time of reflection and energising. That’s an experience echoed in many gardens, mine among them.
