Here is the link to our ‘Barbara and Tony Holden Selected Prayers’ flip-book - https://online.fliphtml5.com/lcdzi/eftv/. We hope you find them helpful and that they encourage you.

The cover (picture above) and the other visual are by Barbara and, as in much art, colouring can be part of our spirituality.
Here’s our explanation as to how we decided to share our selected prayers booklet. During our working lives our prayers together mainly happened in our local church and in public worship with Tony as minister. Recently we’ve done our prayers together in our home and gradually selected ones we particularly like. We often say the Lord’s Prayer in both Welsh and English. Some are from Barbara’s Celtic spirituality books, some from favourite sources, and there are a few personal ones written by us. We got help from our local church magazine editor/ printer whom we thank. We did a test run with a few friends and here we are.
We live at a time when our world and media coverage are so full of hatred and violence and conflict. For many people, including many Christians, prayers and witness remain important ways through which we make our response. Of course we also need political and community action.
As Daniel Berrigan wrote during the Vietnam war -
“The time will shortly come upon us, if it is not already here, when the pursuit of contemplation becomes a strictly subversive activity... I am quite sure of what I mean, however badly it comes out. I am convinced that contemplation, including the common worship of the believing, is a political act of the highest value, implying the riskiest of consequences to those taking part.”
Footnote - Daniel Berrigan in ‘America is Hard to Find’ [1973] - He was a peace activist at the time of the Vietnam war 1955-1975 and lived 1921-2016.
